Bulldogs Move On To Bi-District First time since 2003!! GO DOGS!!!!

The Osborne Bulldogs hosted the Lincoln Leopards in a district contest that had big ramifications. The winner would get to advance to bi-district and play another week, while the loser would be done for the season. On a clear, cold evening at Liberty Field, the Bulldogs won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball. Lincoln kicked off to Osborne's Knoll who returned it 11 yards. The Bulldog offense setup up at their own 32 yard line. First play from scrimmage was not good for the dogs, and resulted in a big penalty. Staring at a 2nd and 29, Conway takes the handoff and sweeps around the right side with a big gain to the 42 yard line. This resulted in a first and 10. The bulldog drive stalled and Osborne's Krager punted the ball. The Leopard offense setup their first series at their own 36 yard line. The Bulldog defense was ready and forced, and recovered a Leopard fumble. Osborne's second series started at the Leopard 40 yard line. The Bulldog's would throughout the night, switch signals callers. The Leopards never knew if Conway or Geist was going under center when the huddle broke. This snap, Conway connected with Knoll on a 15 yard pass play. The very next snap, Giest handed off to Conway who broke a 30 yard run for the TD. With 4:51 left in the first quarter, Osborne's Conway converted the 2 point attempt. Score: Osborne 8 Lincoln: 0. Lincoln returned the resulting Osborne kick for 18 yards. Lincoln's second series started at their own 32 yard line. The Bulldog defense hand their ears pinned back and really came after the Leopards. After a first play first down, the Dogs dropped the Leopards on each of three plays. The ensuing Leopard punt was returned by Osborne's Conway for 36 yards, as the first quarter expired. 2nd Quarter: Osborne's offense setup their third series at the start of the 2nd quarter. The first play of the series saw Conway break a 63 yard TD run. With 11:49 remaining in the quarter, the PAT was no good. Score: Osborne 14 Lincoln 0. Lincoln didn't get much of a return on the Bulldog kick and setup their offense on their own 15 yard line. After Krager dropped Peterson on the first play, Lincoln incurred 3 penalties in a row (Block in Back, Delay of Game, Personal Foul). Lincoln punted the ball to Osborne. Again, the Bulldog's Conway broke a 34 yard touch down run. After the touchdown there were offsetting personal foul penalties. Osborne's sideline got its very own personal foul and really pushed back the PAT kick. But Osborne's Rucinski makes the kick from almost 35 yards out. Score: Osborne 21 Lincoln 0. Lincoln start their next offensive series on their own 34 yard line. A stiff Bulldog defense and penalties resulting in the Leopard's turning it over on downs. Coach Riner of the Bulldogs calls time out and regroups the team. The Bulldog offense setup shop and Conway breaks another long TD run of 44 yards. With 7:27 left in the 2nd quarter, Osborne's Floyd tried to run in the 2 point conversion, but comes up short. Score: Osborne 27 Lincoln 0. The Bulldog's kick was recovered by the Leopards on their own 26 yard line. Lincoln also suffered yet another personal foul penalty on the play. Lincoln started digging into the bag of tricks, after Peterson was stopped by Knoll. Lincoln tried the Flea-Flicker, but the Bulldog's Conway wasn't fooled and intercepted the pass and returned it 9 yards. Osborne had some miscues of its own on the next offensive series. Delay of game penalty, holding, just to name a few. But Osborne converted on 4th and 3 with a run by Knoll. Then Conway topped it with a 7 yard TD run with 3:44 remaining in the 2nd. Osborne's PAT kick missed. Score: Osborne 33 Lincoln 0. Lincoln started at their own 28 yard line. Oliver dropped the Leopards Pacey. Lincoln started trying to get the passing game going, but really didn't have much luck. Osborne's Hill intercepted Pacey's next pass attempt and returned it 12 yards. Osborne's Knoll ran in a touch down for 8 yards with 1:22 left in the 2nd quarter. PAT by Conway, was no good. Score: Osborne 39 Lincoln 0. Lincoln offense started at their own 16 yard line. The Bulldog defense once again, forced the Leopards to punt the ball. Conway returned the kick 23 yards. Osborne advanced the ball, but was forced to try a field goal. Rucinski's attempt was wide-right and the first half was over. Osborne 39 Lincoln 0. 3rd Quarter: Osborne kicks off to Lincoln. The Bulldog's kick it out of bounds which results in the Leopards starting at the 35 yard line. Lincoln couldn't get anything going, but tried a fake punt. The Bulldog's weren't fooled and dropped Peterson before he could get to the first down marker. Osborne's first series of the 2nd half saw the go for it on 4th and 2. Pruter got the 2 yards and an Osborne first down. Conway took the handoff from Geist and broke a run for 26 yards and a touch down. Rucinski's PAT kick was good and with 8:13 remaining in the 3rd quarter the score was Osborne 46 Lincoln 0. The mercy rule kicked in and the game clock started running continuous. At this point, Osborne's coach Riner started substituting players liberally. Lincoln started at the 33 yard line, and was having some offensive success moving the ball. 2 nice stops by Osborne ended the 3rd quarter of play with the score being Osborne 46 Lincoln 0. 4th Quarter: Lincoln still had the ball with a 3rd and 11. Pacey dropped back to pass and was intercepted by the Bulldog's DeMars. When DeMar's was being tackled he fumbled and the Leopards recovered. Post Game film review showed DeMar's down prior to the fumble. Short runs by the Leopards put them in 4th and long situation. Peterson, on a broken play scampers for 29 yards and the Leopards first TD of the night. With 8:42 remaining in the 4th, the Leopards convert the 2 point attempt. Score: Osborne 46 Lincoln 8. Lincoln tries the on-side kick, but the Bulldogs were ready with the "hands" team and recovered. The Bulldog offense at this point, just grinds down the clock with the running game. Knoll, Web, Spears, Pruter and DeMar move the ball. Osborne goes for it on 4th down, but DeMar came up short. Lincoln, taking over on downs, fumbled the snap and the game was over.
