|
On October 16th members of the OJH/OHS bands and choirs entertained their fans with an informal concert held in the OHS auditorium. Under the direction of Jack Coleman and with piano accompaniment by Lana Randle the Bulldog musicians put on a great show including a wide variety of musical pieces. The Junior High Mixed Chorus opened the concert with All Through the Night [Old Welsh Air] and You Must Fly [by Joyce Eilers], the High School Mixed Chorus followed next with 3 selections, Kyrie Eleison [by F. Schubert, arr. by Joyce Eilers] and 2 Disney favorites Whistle While You Work [by Morey/Churchill, arr. by Averre] and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious [by Sherman/Sherman, arr. by Averre]. The two choirs then combined to sing 2 "golden oldies" I Can See Clearly Now [by J. Nash] and Blowin' In The Wind [by B. dylan, arr. by R. Bune]. After a short delay while the stage was rearranged the band portion of the concert was kicked off with the Junior High Band playing Russian Hymn [by L. Woff] and The Jolly Earl of Cholmondeley [by H. Stuart]. The High School Band was up next with Alleluia [by C. Saint-Saens, arr. by Stouffer] and another blast from the past We're Not Going to Take It. The two bands then combined to get the audience's toes tapping and close out the nights performance with a couple pep-band favorites Smoke on the Water [by Deep Purple, arr. by M. Sweeney] and Hang On Sloopy [by Russell/Farrell, arr. by D. Adams].
