Lady Dogs Defeat Cardinals In Season Opener

Junior Varsity Game
Coached by Riner & Wolters

At 4:00 Friday afternoon the Lady Dogs kicked off the new season by taking on the Plainville Cardinals at home.The opening tip was controlled by the Lady Dogs and both teams were a bit out of sync as often occurs in the first game of the season. Sophomore Paige Noel broke the ice, scoring the first basket of the game with 3:27 left in the first quarter. From there the Bulldog juggernaut started rolling. Coach Riner began substituting out the varsity players early in the 2nd quarter as the Dogs had a comfortable lead. All the JV Lady Dogs played minutes in the game, and the team won the first game of the season with a victory margin of 39 points.

Varsity Game
Coached by Wolters and Riner

Before the varsity girls game Coach Darrel Wolters, who retired this year, was recognized for all his years of hard work and dedication to the Osborne Girls Basketball program. The team gave him a decorated cake, and the senior girls presented him with a plaque. Then the first varsity girls game of the season tipped off.

Plainville controlled the opening tip but it was Osborne’s Demi French who scored first, with 7:03 remaining in the first quarter. Osborne played their now famous pressure defense, but being the first game of the year some of the starters got into early foul trouble. Amberleigh Plowman was one of the starters in foul trouble early bringing sophomore Emily Girard into the game to substituted for Plowman, Emily played a fantastic game. The Lady Dogs all contributed to the win, as they rolled over the Cardinals with ease.
